Excellent Renault insurance is the answer, bought a new car off them in 2000 and the lovely chaps and chapesses gave me 2 bonus years, it confused the heck out of the First direct computer when I went with them lol

So you got 2 years NCB just because you bought a new car?Originally Posted by visidigi
See, this is what annoys me. The whole point of NCB is to show you can drive your car without any accidents, the more NCB you have, the less likely you are to crash, the safer a driver you are. If insurers can hand out NCB for any old reason then surely that defies the whole point?
The best insurance one is where the average mileage is 10k, say u do 20k a year they expect you to pay more, yet if u drive round for a year without crashing they dont give you 2 years no claims even tho you'd driven twice as far but in 1 year instead of 2
It wasn't just because I bought a new car, I think it was...well actually no it may have been, you see Renault gave a years free insurance with the car, so what the insurer did was say tot he underwriters I had two years no claims when Ibought the car, hence the insurance was cheaper for renault, so in theory its a fiddle of the system, but apparently what ever your previous insurer writes on your renewal is what you qualify for. So if you can manage to talk em into it then i think you can get more lol.Originally Posted by Oakey

Nice so even the car companies are trying to fiddle the system, remind me why we pay stupid amounts for insurance again, every feckers on the fiddle and we all pay for it, so hows about we all stop fiddling (oooer) and then insurance comes down....Originally Posted by visidigi
heh dont know yet what No Claims bonus will do for me, but i passed my driving test a month after my 18th Birthday,
insurance tpft with european breakdown cover, and a free courtesy car if i crash mine -
£2700 agreed value for my car (that i bought for £800)
obviously i have no ncb, and no passplus -
costing me £550per annum on my own policy.. for a car with a stage 1 tuning kit (k+n air filter - thinner carb needle, and new LCB manifold and stainless exhaust)
alloys, and arches
not bad eh!
cant wait to see what it is next year!
Courtesy car if you crash on a TPFT policy? Errr, somehow I think you'd be lucky there!
BMW 530i Sport | Ford Mondeo Ghia X RSAP
Some policy's are weird tho, my 1st policy was TPFT yet allowed me to drive any car as you would expect to get on a FC policy...
Nope, its a classic car insurance policy. I can, (and am going to) drop a 1275 (bored out to 1380) racing tuned engine - and my insurace will be £700 - not inc. no claims -
insurers love classic car drivers,
and drivers love classic car insureres!
-could be up to a 6 or 7second car too!
(driving a classic mini btw, none of this bmw CRAP)
Sounds good, what year is it?Originally Posted by Nod

its not a mk1 59 mini. as much as id love one, however... if i had one i couldnt modify it, that would be so, so wrong to bodykit and racing mod a real classic
Just got my renewal thru, £300 cheaper than last year...
NU's rapid bonus scheme is a quicker way to get a NCB, but once you get the full 5 years NCB it will work out as more expensive than the FULL 5yr NCB.
Its a save money now, or save money later sort of thing.
Classic insurance doesn't increase your NCB, infact I lost my NCB last year as I had held a classic policy for too long. I couldn't really complain though as I had been driving around in a 200+ bhp standard motor for £200 fully comp
