    Battery Booster / Engine Starters.

    Alright peeps,

Can anyone recommend a portable booster/starter pack? Would be nice if it had a compressor for tyres, but not important... I borrowed one recently that impressed me as it started my diesel van first time, but I forget the manufacturer...... Doh!

What engine size/type is your motor. You need a higher capacity one to start a large diesel, than a 1L petrol fiesta.

A diesel will take a lot of oomph to start, best high capacity I could find is

or just spotted this one but check that it will start a 2L diesel

Be warned its possible to bugger a cars electronics with a jump starter, I've used them on landrovers but they only have 2 fuses so there's little to blow.

    Cheers Flibb matey. Much appreciated.

Most damage is caused by misuse or incorrect operation afaik, but cheers for the warning. I'm not sure I'd jump my db7 with one of these packs either lol!

Re: Battery Booster / Engine Starters.

keeping them charged themselves is hard, so get the best one to suit you're charging...ie car charger or mains charger.

The cheap ones are just dire...you'll use it a few times in a one year period and it'll be toast. Never to work properly again.

Some people genuinely just keep a car battery charged and some leads as they are often cheaper and easier to keep charged!

Re: Battery Booster / Engine Starters.

Cheers Zak good point, I have a 600ah battery in the back of the van hooked up to a 2kw inverter so charging shouldn't be a problem. This battery is not jumpstart compatible though.
