    F1 "trophies" in 2019

    I don't watch F1 any more.

Partly because I'm a seriously grumpy old git who's better off outdoors, and not shouting at a TV...

and partly because the majority of the coverage feels ... fake. Pretend.... feels like watching Instragram live....

Vettel this weekend mentioned in passing that the Trophies were a load of old ... and so I thought I'd check out what the "Grand Prize" was these days.
Not the money for winning, but the pot to go in the cabinet

Large images... but worth it to see the utter lack of quality, the rough edges, the Ikia poang chair and the horror of plastic, the lager star and the gorilla

Honestly... honestly.. where has the class gone?

    Luckily we can trust Rolex

    Re: F1 "trophies" in 2019

It's all for telly now, like what little NFL I've seen in the USA. You've got to get the airtime segments right - and which camera men zoom so much when they perhaps realise the trophies are bad?

I wonder what Hamilton does with all his trophies. Prolly in the loft, right?

(I too don't really watch F1 these days - but I still really like the Channel 4 commentary during the race and q3. I'll watch it if it's on. Don't like the danger aspect any more [getting old] so that puts me off - a lot).

Be Careful on the Internet! I ran and tackled a drive by mining attack today. It's not designed to do anything than provide fake texts (say!)

I have certainly watched fewer races since Liberty Media took over. The intro still feels like a Superbowl commercial.

The whole thing definitely feels more "plastic".

Did you see how they did the podium this weekend?
Vettel and Bottas walked up onto the podium as normal and then Hamilton was raised up out of the floor in front of them, stood on top of his car throwing peace signs into the sky. It was so cringy!

I kinda lost interest once Nigel Mansell was off the cards.

Some friends still watch avidly, so I get to hear about how awesome an awesome dude the awesome Kimi Raikonnen is... and how skilled Hamilton is, despite him basically saying that the cars have gotten so good nowadays that it's pish-easy and requires no skill any more....

    Re: F1 "trophies" in 2019

I know the curvy Trophy is supposed to be a race track..but I can see the rough edges where the brass plate at the base isn't fitted properlt to the curved piece of Ikea poang.....

and Ikea do smooth THEIR edges

    and as for that gorilla...
There are other colour gorilla's too, for other podium places.

    Imagine the honour.....
