    350z Opinions?

I'm looking at changing cars come July time, so need to start planning now.
The car I've always liked since launch is the 350z. I've just done an insurance quote and surprised myself how affordable it is. 25yrs old, 2yrs NCB, 2 prior claims = £902

So, do I start seriously considering Z ownership?
What else could I get for the 20-25k bracket that doesn't have snob appeal, doesn't have a bmw badge, isn't likely to loose money hand over fist in depreciation, and most of all is a hoot to drive.

This will be my last "fun" car so hence 2seaters are definiately IN!

Fuel costs aren't really a problem, as I get a fuel card, but servicing costs need to be considered.

S2000 poss ok, but no to RX8.

350Z ..... or wait for a 250Z.... na... the 350Z is the daddy!

If you get one... dont bother with the Nissan Sat nav system.... buy the Alpine touch screen system and install it yaself works out the same sort of money but its 110% better than the Nissan system. + ya can play ya own DVD's/VCD's etc... on the alpine system

350Z's suffer alot from Stone chips... my m8 has owned his for 4 months and has already had 2 major chips on the front edge of the bonnet. So much so that he's had these professionally repaired and had the full car Paint Shielded @ a price of around £550 quid....... http://www.xpeleu.com/ It does protect all the front end, the bonnet, wing mirrors, front wings, wheel arches and sills though. VX220's also suffer alot from stone chips. Its the flat low design of the shape that makes these cars prone to stone chips.

And deffo get the GT specification if you were to get one... brembo brakes, cruise control, etc...

    My mates car.... - http://www.cardomain.com/id/bigpete355

He told me he wasn't going to "mod" this car.... and he's already put a Honda S2000 aerial on, chrome wheels and spent about £2k on sat nav/dvd system.

Zak was very excited with the new MR2. Think thats around that sum (edit its 18k new for the pricier one). Or maybe a new SLK if thats affordable second hand for the new model with a good engine (once again seems to be a Zak favourite and he seems to know his stuff).
Tough on mirrors, tough on the causes of mirrors.

If it were my money it would be going on a DC5, or an S2000 if you didn't fancy the idea of an import. Both are much more focused cars imho, well maybe not the S2000 quite so much, but a DC5 is a real track tool the moment it leaves the factory

Depends what you like from a car...

Just found out the 350z has a service interval of 9000miles

That means, every 3 months it will be in the garage
Same with Evo's and scoobies really.

    Ideally I want a 12k or 18k service interval.

£25k , right thats about $50k, that means you can afford this:

350z aint got nothing on that!

Seriously though its worth considering buying abroad with the pound so high.

what about insurance though? I think a Porsche 911 would cost more to insure than a £25k sports coupe.

    Wow! I wish a 911!!

TT - Nope, too dull and boring, not been facelifted since launch, looks dated
VX220/Elise/Caterham - Hardly a day to day motorway cruiser
    Alfa - Hadn't considered, perhaps.

Hmm, S2000 is 9000 service too

Vauxhall Astra VXR is a possibility, but still doesn't have the sex appeal of the 350z

Yeah, but then you have to think of the shipping, registration, tax, any modifications that need making (none from US I dont think tho), the very low 2nd hand value, the the LHDness.

On the next note - have you considered a Boxter, might be slightly too expensive for a good one (the S 3.2) but you never know. They seem to say service around every 20,000Miles.

Just found the MP3 files Porsche put on there website - that GT3 sounds awsome
