I have a ford focus MK3 and the ECU is gone. I cannot find a new one anywhere. Wow they are expensive.

Sounds like new might not be an option if you tried the usual parts places and they're unavailable/super expensive. Have you got off-road parking? You could get a spares car (running but not fail) and just take off good bits when you need them then sell the rest to a scrap yard?
Otherwise if eBay isn't helping then it might be a trip to a physical scrap yard as mentioned.
No idea what's linked together with the ECU, immobiliser? If so you might need a set of keys to go with and the ignition. Worth a check.

I have a Focus and secondhand ecu's are the best way to go here, getting a new one you have no chance, they are stupidly expensive plus you will need lots of supporting components.
Have you tried ebay? I know this probably isn't for your car but they do come up, completely package for £100 - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264880087272

News update. The chap got a new one trying to put it in and will find out later. The part itself is around £800. Wish it happened before I updated my PC as I would've waited a bit.
Will upload my old stuff tonight on the forums.
Going keep this car for another year and totally make it look like a new one and save as much as possible then get a new one.
