    Pay up or Elbow Grease?

There are quite a few car wash places near me, £10 will get the whole exterior washed and wiped, tyres dressed and interior hoovered with some nice sweet aroma smellies as you get in. About £7 will just get you the outside done.

So are you lazy like me and pay up for some people to hand wash your car, or do you do it yourself on a nice bright sunny day?

    car.....wash....what?

The last time I washed it was when I had to clear half of donnington off the bottem of it Got some funny looks at the jetwash when I got the trollyjack out and picked the car up so I could jet the underside.

according to 5lab you dont need to clean your car... all it does is put a shine on the car

My cars is washed about 3 times a week.... if you keep on top of it then all it takes is 15 minutes with the hose and chamios leather. But saying that.... i've spent 10 hours cleaning my car this week..... but it'll not get touched for a few weeks now apart from the quick hose down and dry.....

I'd never trust any young scally to wash my car..... or someone from one of those drive through car washes..... probably drop the sponge and just continue using it, scratching the crap out of ya paintwork from the grit stuck to the sponge....

    All depends on the car;
If it's something with decent paintwork and in semi decent nick, I'd do it myself.

The trusty hack around bus gets flung into the local handwash place once every couple of months; They give me just enough time to have a coffee before screaming at them not to apply that cheap silcone shine to the dash.

never ever take mine any where near a pay car wash...
wouldnt trust the 'shampoo' they use in the buckets... and as XTR says, dont trust whats on their sponges or leathers!!

mine gets done every weekend along with the bikes... Autoglym goodness for the bucket.. and a quick wipe down with a leather.. unless i've got a bit of time.. then the meguiars comes out..

just spent sommat like 4 hours cleaning my car this afty....

hose down to get it started
mixture of autoglym car shampoo and shampoo from the peeps who make t-cut then soap by hand with sponge
then rinse with either hose or bucket of water
then use autoglym screen thing to give fantastic streak free glass
then use autoglym glass polish for windows, sunroof, external mirrors and lights
the use triple wax car polish on bodywork + bumpers

must get some alloy cleaner... (autoglym of course )

would never use the mechanical car wash's and only use the blokes at the local valeting place in an emergancy...
