Performance Car Insurance but low miles policies?

I run an imported MR2 Turbo (250bhp). I only do about 12-1500 miles a year and my renewal has just come through at over £450

Can anyone recommend a specialist policy that will cover me at a low price because of this? Also, the car is now over 10 years old, can tis make any difference?

    Thanks

    Dave

Only difference the age will make is when it hits the 25 year old mark then you can get the classic insurance. To be honest £450 for a 250bhp mr2 aint nothing to be sniffed at. You could try stating your low millage of 1500 miles and see what they say, but I am sure the policy will just state 10,000 a year mark.

Amazingly though, the quote is for the same insurance company, through a different broker!

A fine choice sir! I found Houghton/Chaucer to be very good with my import MR2. But as Grey said - sounds pretty good anyway. Also grey i imagine Dave is probably over 25 anyway, otherwise you might hear this on the other end of the phone if you try to get a quote Tricky cars to insure sensibly them tubbies...

I am indeed over 25 and have been for many years!

I remember when I first started driving at 17 I was told insurance would be cheaper when I was 21. Then when I was 21 I was told it would be cheaper when I was 25!

It never got cheaper, just more expensive year on year!

Yup, and believe me, it doesn't get any cheaper after 30 either!

Sky are fantastic. They're sensible - they know what they're talking about when it comes to Jap cars, and modified stuff too. They realise that alloys, induction kit etc etc don't add 1,000000hp, and so don't charge daft premiums for them.

I've yet to find anyone who comes close to them, and I'm always happy to recommend them.

I'm not sure if it was said here or elsewhere but insurance appears to get more expensive each year as we tend to work our way up the insurance groups as we go on.

Yes, they insure common or garden varieties

Give em a call, I really doubt you'll find cheaper.
