    Question Turbo problems

I helped my mum get a car yesterday, similar to mine - same engine a 1.7 td isuzu engine vauxhall astra.

Our is an older model but the engine is good and powerful. I let my mum test drive it and we looked at the engine which didnt look as good as ours. But it drove fine so my mum took it. We went back later that night and i drove it home, having the same car i knew the engine, the turbo does not seem to be kicking in. Have i helped my mum buy a lemon or is it a fixable thing, it does need a service and im hoping this will help sort it.

Black smoke issues at all? I take it you've tried driving it yourself and can notice the lack of the turbo? Can you hear it if you rev the car hard at all?

I find you can normally hear turbos even when its not being reved hard. Just open the window, stereo off and listen for the turbo woosh

There doesnt seem to be any black smoke, but there is a definte lack of turbo, comparing it to our car, they have the same engine. On our car when the turbo kicks in you feel it, this one the turbo does not.im wondering if the turbo has gone would that damage the rest of the engine......

if the turbo "went" you'd have huge problems.

it coudl well be a boost leak though
