I just formatted my HD, reinstalled and configed all my programs with no problems (I restarted the system when requested). However I then installed my Creative Audigy 1 soundcard drivers and programs and restarted the machine. When it boots back up that’s all i get is a black screen with the cursor and the following error message:
Services.exe Entry point not found
The procedure entry point_resetstkoflw could not be found in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll
Clicking ok just gets rid of the error message and returns me to the blank screen with the cursor. I left it for 20mins to see if it would do anything, as you may have guessed it did nothing, so i tried booting into safemode and the same thing happens. I have subsequently tried all the various "safe modes" XP has to offer but they all result in the same thing.
The only solution to this that i can think of now (without reformatting (something i really dont want to do again)) is to some how use the WinXP recovery console, to either restore the pc to where it was before or i could try to copy services.exe and msvcrt.dll to a floppy disk from another computer and then copy them over to my pc using R console. Would this be possible and how would i do it? Im really not in the best of moods to do a format after just doing one today
EDIT: Crap, just noticed. Can some one at the top of the HEXUS x-mas tree move this to the OS & A forums please
