Its a GP2 car - they're one of the support formulae for the european rounds of the F1 calendar.

    Nice pics Tom

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

Yes it is a GP2 car, and I can confirm the races are not half as interesting as they appear on TV or advertise in the press. The F1 was far superior, there was loads of overtaking at Stowe corner (the highlight move being Kimi taking Alonso before he pitted) so I really do defy people who say F1 is boring when you get that much entertainment when you go watch it.

    Still the pinnacle for me

Can I just ask, how did you get pics like that? ie what type of camera did you have? what shutter speed did you use etc(only know a small bit about photography but well impressed with the pics).
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

The camera is a Fuji Finepix S5500 digital and cost me £250 including case and 128Mb xD memory card (134 photos on high quality.) Couldn't afford a Digital SLR at the time so this was the closest I could get in quality terms and for my budget was this.

Shutter speed:- because an F1 car is so fast I figured the shutter speed could be a little higher than if I were shooting something like a touring car and I would still maintain some motion or background blur and make it look like the car is moving at speed.

The pictures are taken by first focussing on the car as it comes towards you (pick the exit of a slow corner for practice) and then shooting as it becomes directly parallel with you.

I really don't know much myself, but I learn as I go along...you do need a steady hand though to keep the sharpness in the image.

Thanks for that, have to say the pics are awesome quality and look like the professional pics taken with £1000+ cameras. Shows 1 thing though, you don't need a mega money camera to take really good pics.

Great pics, I was amazed when I read you hadn't used an SLR. They look like professional quality pics as starbuck said.
