i've got yokohama tyres on mine atm and they're great, havent let me down once yet. only thing I would say is I don't think they stop quite as quickly as my old Contis, dunno if thats cus the tyre size changed to. Althought i've not locked them yet, then I'll know how good they are for stopping

How so? if a tyre's sliding it's not doing much stopping...

yeah, but my old Conti's just lost rubber and you'd still stop fairly quickly, some tyres like nankangs dont loose rubber and you just slideeeeeeeeee for ages. I didn't mean it's a quick way to stop, I just meant that if they DO stop when they're locked and not over a stupid distance then they're good tyres imo, I have a habit of locking my wheels when idiots on bikes just fly into the middle of the road... ( long story )

When we got the car it had new Pirellis on the front and orignal Contis on the back. I think the Contis are standard on the 911s, that suggests they're better?
From my experience Conti's are shocking in the wet (especially on rear wheel drive merc's it seems). I'd go for the Pirelli's

How about the Toyo T1-R.. the new successor to the "S"
they claim better dry handling, stiffer sidewall and longer lasting compound too

Ive got a full set on my RS and have to say i like them.. theve been on for 15k and 2 trackdays, and are still leagal.. my passenger side front is a bit feathered from hammering it round bruntingthorpe but its still legal.. id also rate them well better than the older T1-R..

if ya want Toyos, try Camskill.co.uk - they are usually unbeatable on Toyo prices, and free delivery in the UK.
