Open filters are fine on turbo'd engines since if they're running a decent amount of boost, the air around the intake doesn't get time to heat up since the turbo's sucked it up already

There's an article somewhere floating around the web regarding MR2 turbos, and different filters. They did back to back rolling road tests, and also showed how well the filter actually did its job of filtering dust etc out. IIRC the HKS mushroom jobbies were aweful!

yes they are. i know a friend of a friend who has used them before and knows others that have and regards them as crap! lol in theory the mushroom will suck the foam inside itself after awhile... LOOOOL.

Anyone reckon Green are any good then. as i havent heard of any insights to the gain or loss in performance when compared to the original induction...

Unless the stock intake is very very bad i doubt youd see any gains.

I remember seeing something awhile ago to the effect that K&N let the most air through, but they also let the most **** in.

That said, they do sound pretty nice.

according to the K&N site on certain performance cars such as their 2005mustang it can produce extra power... they report 36BHP gain if i recall...

You might find that's because it's a US engine with all sorts of crazy anti-smog crap being removed by the induction kit.

I think i remember an article comparing all the induction kits and the K&N one came out on top. Think that was because it let lots of air through and didn't need so much maintenance....could be wrong though

I run a Green induction kit on my 200sx it seems to perform fine, and it makes one hell of a sucking noise too.

Know of a place you can get Green cones without the kit around? They don't do one a kit for the 2.9 cologne so I was thinking of fitting a couple on myself.

Or there's the ubiquitous K&N twin cone kit I suppose
