    Dunno really.

It's not got some of the stranger stipulations that can be asociated with classic insurance.

They still understand the car's used day to day on the road. They also accept it's not quite how it left the factory. But they deal with it as an enthusiasts car.

See, I kept getting quoted as a 22 year old with a 15 year old banger that happened to be a 2.9L V6. Put that to the insurers and they assume it's just been bought for peanuts (well, it was) and is gonna be thrashed to death before ending its life around a tree.

Basicly, it's cars are in the transition phase between banger and classic. Still new enough to be a daily drive, but not by any means a new car.

Dunno if I explained that too well..... but I mean't £350 off the insurance bill!

Standard 'classic quotes' will not increase you NCB, so double check if its something you need. You can also loose all NCB if you are insured for two years on classic without having 'regular' insurance. I learnt that the hard way...

I currently have an MR2 insured under a classic policy (mk1), but used to have a mk2 turbo insured as a classic.

A lot of insurers treat cars over 10 years old as "classic cars" for insurance purposes. However most impose the following rules to get you cheap insurance:

    1) All drivers must be over 25 years old.
    2) The car has to be kept off the road at night (i.e. driveway but usually garage).
    3) The car must be a second car (i.e. you have another insured car).

Apart from that anything goes, but be warned as others have said most classic policies don't use a NCB concept so you won't accumulate it.

For me classic car insurance works out about the same as regular insurance but pays out better if there is an accident. If you can find a specific cherished model then there is usually an associated car club that has preferrential insurance available through brokers.
