How the hell are MG going to sell their cars??!

Me and a mate went down to the MG dealer yesterday to test drive a few MGs before its too late (just to see what theyre like).

The only MG in stock which they could let us test drive was a TF, which i wasnt after but any hows my mate drove it anyway and didnt think too much of it.

Anyway onto the point of this thread, i was wanting to test drive the ZT or ZS, but they had none in stock whatsoever, however they did say that they could get one in, although if they were to do so i would need to buy it first???

I know that their prices are cheap, but for the money you could still get more car elsewhere, and not being able to test drive a car before you buy it is a bit of a let down.

ZS V6 is the only MG I would test drive or consider owning.

Unless someone gave me a ZT V8, even though its only a poor 260bhp.

We had the cdi rover 75 which was actually a really nice car to be in. Was very comfortable, nice soft suspension and had the most amazing sound system (Was the top spec optional harmon kardon though)

Still, our current car (Mondeo 2.5 V6) is hard in the corners and amazingly capable at eating motorway miles in triple figures with no problems.

Get a 2.5 75, best of both worlds!

The V8 is awesome... the MG sports zorst upgrade makes people tremble as it rumbles by, and pops and splutters when the TC kicks in

I doubt it would be easy or cheap. It would cost thousands.

Would you really want to spend thousands on a rover that you already wont be able to sell for toffee in a year or 2 time?

Bit ironic that the only Rover V8 for years doesnt have a rover v8 in it. I know they stopped production but still a little strange dont you think?

The point of their V8 is that its a relaxed car anyway, no point in sticking quad turbos on it or something crazy because its not meant to have 4 turbos

The reason why he wouldnt get a car for you unless you bought it is simple - in order to get the car, he would have had to have bought it himself. MG/Rover no longer exists as a company and besides, the dealerships were all franchises anyway - an MG Rover dealer in Devon was not the same company, usually, as one in say Kent. They'd have to purchase the car off the other dealer, and get it sent down, if they wanted it.

You can understand why they wouldn't be keen to do this without some sort of guarantee of a sale as a result.
