    colour names website..

Weird question maybe, but does anyone know of a website with car colour paint names? (or numbers or code names, whatever they're called ).

I've seen a certain shade of blue a few times and I really like it, and I'd like to know what it's called.. thanks

alright..... just giving a situation... if you went out and bought a spoiler and wanted it the same colour as your car, where would you go to find out the exact same colour spray paint as the one currently on your car?

What about if somebody bought it off ebay or autotrader or something? Would a local garage or somewhere like Halfords be able to find out for you?

Surely it will be written on the car somewhere ? On Fiats it's on a sticker on the inside lip of the tailgate, colour name and paint code.

What if you had an extremly rare car and there was only one or two dealers in the country? (Not been awkward , just putting you in a situation.. )

If you can't get access to the car in question or the sticker with the paint code is missing then the best port of call would be an owners club/forum as they will know all the codes.

If you are matching to a particular car then it's worth checking the exact code on the car in question if you can, and if it's an old car then try to go to a specialist paint company to get it mixed. I know years ago I wanted a colour match to my old car and Halfords just made a can up. Later I went to a specialist place and he said there was 7 shades all with the same code and went outside to try them and find the best match. Especially important with cars >5years old as the paint has had time to fade a bit.

Its often on a metal plate on the inside of the front door. Worth looking in the manual too
