Is silver the colour of the devil?

The lupo thread brought up a thought - often i see 5-6 silver cars side by side in a car park or one after another on the road. They are getting too common. I am even prepared to tollerate turd metallics if it means we get a bit more colour. However I would prefer to see a bit more cars in brighter plain colours too.
So is silver the tool of the devil sent unto us to make us look identical or is it still the new black?

I saw two aubergine foucii today in the span of 1 minute... That makes a change from silver so I am all for it. I do love the look of the old Focus so I don't mind them that much. But i was once at the lights with a Ka in front of me and 5 Kas in a row in the next lane... Not the same colour though. Thank god for that.

They'll probably get recalled by ford at some point when they realise the mistake.

Silvers quite boring imo, we've got an old shape focus in a green tint silver and a 'machine silver' mondeo. Did see a mondeo in solid red which looked damn good, better than the silver

If I was ordering a new car I wouldn't have it in silver- and with some brands it's well beyond a joke, I reckon about 80% of all Mercedes sold are silver, with most of the rest being black. Some cars look good in silver though, the last model BMW 7-Series especially. If you look through Autotrader it seems that nearly all old 7-serieses were sold in Boston Green Metallic, which really does look crap.

This is exactly why I threated to beat Doll senseless if he bought a silver Fabia vRS. Made him have black

Owning a silver car i'm going to be slightly biased, but as i'm an octavia VRS owner with a choice of black, Lemon Yellow, Red and Silver. I know there was only two colours i would choose from, silver and black.

From then it depends on the type of person you are. Doll regularly cleans and pampers his car, I however do not pamper my car and clean and wax it as often as i should. So if my car was black it would look awful by now.

However silver hides the dirt, is much more visible at night compared to a black car and looks smart.

I couldn't care less if half the other cars on the road are silver. Its my own choice what colour i have, and personally i think silver makes an awful lot of sense.

Doesn't mean i'd always have silver. My DB9 will have to be british racing green hehe.

Blue green or red....you can't go wrong. Silver is a lazy mans colour - no paint restoration to do. Black fries anything, white shows up mud, yellow is for giant bananas, and pink is for silly chavettes...brown well...just dont get me started on..if its not mud, you should be ashamed of yourself.

My brother has a Silver car - Mini 850...and he deffinantley is the devil.

Its fair enough when you have limited choice of colours, and yes, its better to have 70% in silver than in brown, and i appreciate its easier to take care of. But it is good when people go for something different.

Silver cars are for the lazy sods to drive that can't be bothered to clean the dirt from them, nor do they have time to spare to drive into a carwash and get a token.

Silver helps the greyish muck blend in and after a while the car looks like it has a speckled effect - thus they don't need to clean it as it looks "cool"...

yeap, silvers boring and should be replaced with a more vivid colour

...I agree - I'd rather be driving than cleaning the TT!
