For a mid sized hatch it's actually very good. These cars cost more than everything else, and provided you accept that, its a good buy.

The are perfect cars for the sort of person who figures that becuase they don't need space, they should pay more money for less space.

Presumably these are the same people who will buy one six pack of carling for a fiver instead of the 'buy one get one free' offer beside it for the same price becuase 'I only need 6, I have no need for 12'.

    "It's a bit big"

Oh I love that one. The owner considers the extra 12" of car will make it impossible to fit anywhere.

Well... I was going to look at the C5 (it was £2100 but needed a service)... but saw a:

Skoda Fabia 1.4, W (2000) Reg, 60,000 miles, Comfort (air con, electric windows, remote central locking etc), ABS, for £2500

and managed to get it for £2300 - so smaller than all the others, but 4 star euroncap, and excellent reliability according to JD Power and Top Gear survey.

    pics here

saw some Focus's but they were generally older, higher mileage, and more expensive.

yeah it's really nice - seems more grippy round corners than the Fiesta 1.25 Zetec I had, but the engine seems a bit weak and needs quite a bit of revving to get it going faster. yeah those creamy/lime coloured seat bits and fabric are probably the worst thing about the car
