You'll also be dissapointed when bits start falling off and stop working... It's an old car. A Xsara is newer, built better and more reliable

Have you drove a 306 DTurbo? If not, why give your opinion when its based on total hearsay?Originally Posted by Fox
Clearly from what you've described so far, shows thats not the case. The DTurbo 306 was loved by many for good reasons, and hated by some who got stung by Peugeot's mediocre quality control.
I can only imagine it was loved for it's MPG?Originally Posted by javalord

Unfortunately meaning the Xsara has all those quality's and flaws at a lower price if your not as image concious?Originally Posted by Fox
Slight problem there, people do put image as a high priority on their list, hence the demand for them.
If I knew the Xsara was the 306 underneath, I myself would have gone the Xsara way if it really does have those characteristics... although something tells me it doesnt, as not many people mentioned this fact when I did some research.
So you think they are not mechanically identical simply because nobody told you they were when you did research? Errr, nice logic thereOriginally Posted by javalord

No i mean characteristics, there must be some differences. So you expect it to be identical underneath ? WhateverOriginally Posted by Fox
Errr yes, why wouldn't it be? You do realise Peugeot and Citroen are... the same people?Originally Posted by javalord
It's exactly the same deal with the Saxo and the 106 and to a lesser extent becuase of the hydraulic suspension, the 405 and the BX..

So, with the 306 being based on the ZX, does that mean the Xsara is the same too? Didn't think so... it's like comparing a TT to a Golf ('it's all the same underneath') - no, some components are shared, but they're very different cars... javalord is right about characteristicts - it's not just image, it's the finished product which is > the sum of all the parts, shared or otherwise...

Audi - A3, TT
Seat - Leon, Altea
Skoda - Octavia
Same platform. Same car? Some you'd rather have over the others?
it's a Xsara in disguise!*Originally Posted by J4MES
