Oooh most interesting, I heard they wanted to do a lightweight version of the VXR, perhaps they are going to go the way of the M3 CSL with even more power and 4wd to harness that power *dreams*

Hmmmm. Look at how low the diff is sitting. You'd twonk that on every sleeping plice man you ever came across!

If thats a mule its an alpha one. I would lean more towards an enthuseast having fitted some running gear from another car else myself???

Surely this will be priced near the Impreza.

Subaru Impreza WRX STi, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR or a Vauxhall Astra.

Yea, thats a tough one that is.

I would be rather (pleasently) surprised if they went with a 4x4 system like subaru.
The size and standard layout of the astra would lead me to suspect they'd go with the conventional part-time system for the class.

There seems to be quite a few people over on migweb who have fitted Cav/Cally 4x4 systems to their Mk1/2 Astras, with good results!

Or could it just be a rear wheel drive one? Wouldn't be the first time a vauxhall had it's drive moved to the rear for a sporty model.

Yeah bit of work there for a standard astra, fair enuf on the Carltons n Senators as they were RWD from go AFAIK but to make a car thats already FWD to RWD takes a bit more planning.

IIRC the only RWD vauxhall they still make is the monaro..

previously it was the omega.. shame they stopped doing RWD cars as they were decent handlers... stripped out 24v senators/carltons are fairly common at trackdays.. there was a stripped out ex-police senator last time i was at brunters.. was frikkin quick too, weighed in at a nose under a tonne.. with est 210bhp..
it was a old-skool trackday i was at, with lots of mk1-2 escorts... caged up, so the track was set up for drift antics, and they didnt dissapoint..
