Anyone else ever had to take a serious step back in the automotive world?
Thanks to a tiered fibre head gasket and the other car having it's brakes tinkered with; I've just taken up use of a Late Toyota Starlet, it's slightly depressing.

Yeah - the late one. All 1.3 16V 75bhp jobs.
well..imo every car has its benefits over any other car... if i had to drive a fester instead of my mondeo.. i'd appreciate the fuel economy.. or whatever.. i mean, however much of a zelot you are, you cant claim the sierras better in *every* way?? just look at it glass-half-full

5lab, isnt your Mondeo a TD?
If it is I doubt you'd find a Fiesta any more economical, just... crapper in every way
BMW 530i Sport | Ford Mondeo Ghia X RSAP
yeah.. well if not more economical, a bit quicker, or more fun to handle, or easier to park etc.. every car has *some* advantage

Nearly every way. Apart from the fact the Starlet moves and the Sierra doesn't at the moment (well it does, but I don't want to risk cracking the head).Originally Posted by 5lab

Glass Half Full....hmm.....
To be hounest I will drive and have driven almost everything. But I reserve the right to moan about it I had my Fiesta for a year and it didn't put a foot out of place. Sure, it was slower than a transit van and had the most horrid shade of brown interior ever, but who cares if you just want a car?
To be fair, the glass is very full for the starlet's normal user (suffers back problems so the light steering's fantastic and the size means you don't have to crank your neck around for manuvers). It's an excellent little car in the right place.
Never catch me in a mondeo tho
The best Starlets are rwd...then you chuck a tuned x-flow in it...
I did drive a RWD Corola estate for a while. That was....interesting.
Unfortunatly it had 80s Jap Rot and didn't take to kindly to being slammed into a hedge.
This week it has taught me how to work the stoppers without ABS in adverse conditions. Some credit must be given to Steevie Wonder, who was driving the car that pulled stright out of a junction in front of me.
Today I also discovered it's a LOT better as a car than a fairly recent VW polo. What a horrible horibble heap.
We'll all be driving toyotas in 50 years
GM are somewhat in trouble and Ford arn't doing that well either. Toyota are set to outsell Ford in their domestic market this year.Originally Posted by kalniel
