    Corsa SRI + smoke =

    First post in motors.... HELLO

This happened around 8 weeks ago I was travelling at around 40mph down a hill then the engine cuts out all the dash lights come on and smoke starts to come from the bonnet! PANIC! Managed to stop the car safely.

Turns out my engine loom and shorted out and started to melt various plastic conduit. Then the flames came (queue even more panic), luckily I managed to put these out with some water I had in the boot.

    looks normal

    Hmmmm problems there

    Ummm

    Denied

The thing is not one single fuse has blown!

I've managed to source a new loom which should be here today. I also have a ECU/Chip/Transponder coming just incase something has been fried.

    BTW melted plastic stinks!

Yep loom fires suck. My mates 200sx went from heaven to hell in just 4 minutes.

    From

    To

Took em 4 mins to get the fire out. So thats 4 mins to destoy probably the best 200sx S13 in the country

hmm that datsun isnt to my taste, but it does seem to be a lot more modded cars going up in smoke than stock ones (percentage wise). i'm guessing theres a reason manufacturers dont put that much power in to start with

    turbo get too hot?

Nope electrical fire as I said. That car had 600bhp from a 1.8 16v i dont think you'll find many manufacturers that put that much power in as standard.

I suppose, you live on the bleeding edge, sometimes you draw blood?

Nasty Butuz! Did the insurance company pay out?

Well I have installed the new loom and everything seems fine, forgot about the alarm though when I connected the live on the battery it made a high pitch beep which made me jump , to the amusment of my friend....

She now needs a good wash and polish!
