They're OK, but the way some people use em non stop does my nut in, i.e sat on a car park revving the boobs of the car. Can be fun to have it turned on when driving through some twisty lanes though and a nice plume of flame shoots out when you ease off for a bend.

For anyone that doesn't know what a flamer kit is, basically its a exhaust add-on that pumps butane/propane into the exhaust system where it is ignited by a spark plug welded into the exhaust. Not only does this add weight to your already bloated Renault5/Nova/Saxo it does nothing for the performance of the vehicle.

Its a totally pointless piece of poo IMO, just wanted to see what everyone else thought.

Not all kits add butane to the exhaust. Those ones are daft. Most flamer kits you'll see turbo owners use are just spark plugs tapped into the exhaust. Half the time you don't need the spark, but just be sure, a little ignition aid doesn't hurt.

And no, I don't have one. I just like cars spitting flames now and then.

Aren't flamer kits dangerous? I mean on my car that'd be right under the (plastic) filler cap..

There are better things to spend your money on than that kit imho, cos you need a dizzy as well as a sparkplug.

    Flamer Kits, Gay or Not?
Heh. "Yeah mate, well gay, innit."

It's nice to see people slagging off others cars, flamer kit equipped or not, when they don't own a car themselves, or drive mummies.

    Bless. Must be tough.

Whatever floats peoples boats. If it's flinging a R5 round a 'twisty' [although the risk factor involved is surely greater than thrill provided?] or sitting in a car park revving. It's theirs, they can do what they want with it, so long as they don't do it near my motaaah.

    Show a little love, people.

Well, I don't own a motorbike, but that's not going to stop me laughing at accountants and the like who try to pose on Harley Davidsons and end up looking utterly sad. Am I to be denied the hilarity because I'm not (currently) a biker myself?

I actually voted 'Alright I spose' to flamer kits, just defending the man's right to take the piss.

I own two cars and a bike, i have worked for formula one teams and the most prestigious tuning company in the world I have a lot of industry experience, an HND in design engineering and a B.Eng in automotive systems design, i am currently a lecturer in automotive systems, how qualified do you want me to be to have an opinion?
I'm not slagging anyones cars off, i just want to know what people think of flamer kits?
