    Angry 4x4 Off Road Vehicles.

I have brouht this up as some idiot has just parked her huge monstrosity of a 4x4 in the car park where I work its not the easiest of car parks to get around plus it is a car park for employees only. My main question is what do you think of people who buy 4x4s e.g. Mitsubishi Shogun, Range Rover purely for taking the kids too school and shopping? I find them incredibly irratating. Why do they insist on such a gigantic car for these things? I bet they have never taken them off-road in theyre life. Its almost like somebody using a Jackhammer to fix a piece of furniture. What are your opinions? (puts on flame proof vest)

Well thank you for a well balanced topic that looks at both sides of the debate, and step out of your bubble for two seconds.

The beauty of British Society is we can buy whatever we want, and we do. Now I'm not saying that I disagree, I do belive that if the closest you get to off road is your drive then maybe a TDV8 Range Rover isn't your most fitting car.

But what I am saying is that large cars such as Jaguars, Mercades and BMWs create as much emmisions and take up as much room as a 4x4. But does anyone complain about them? No, so get off your f**king high horse you tw*t, and think about it for 10 seconds.

I fell there is as we get prats like this everyday - I took my 110 into town yestaday as my Girlfriend had taken the Cabrio out and within 5 minutes of parking it I had one of those fake parking tickets slapped to the front of it. It really gets me that these people target a Vehicle I choose, payed for with my own money and use to it's potential just because it's parked in a City.

There are FAR FAR FAR more polluting, space consuming and downright stupid cars than a 4x4, but still people seem to think that the problem is 4x4s and they should all be irradicated, well stand for it I won't, I stand by my purchase.

Tell me... At which stage did I mention the emissions? and calm it with the sarcastic remark "Well thank you for a well balanced topic that looks at both sides of the debate" if you were to look at the poll you would see it is coming from both sides of the debate. I can see your point about them taking up about as much room as say a jag or large BMW and thats perfectly acceptable. I can also se that a 4x4 would be great for towing a caravan or similar. maybe i should have included large executive cars into this matter. Personally i dont think british roads are made for these kind of cars. As regards to the latter in your reply I really dont think there was much need for such attitude and aggresion towards me. I as much as you or anyone else in these forums are entitled to express they're views this is why it is called a "community".

It's called a community? In which part of the community does it include alienating one part due to their belifs or opinions?

Thanks to the NERC bill and the so-called Government 4x4s are no longer allowed on 95% of the countryside they once were, and if it was up to Greenp*ss they wouldn't be allowed on any of it, and we've got people like you trying to get them into the countryside... Where the hell are we meant to go??? We're not going to go away, that's for sure.

It's people like YOU that are turning this into the Nazi-like state.

I feel that they are completely unnecessary for taking the kids to school/ lugging crap around. That's what people carriers are for. It's even more irritating when they're driven by dizzy blonde women who seem unable to control such a large mass (LOL STEREOTYPES).

However yes, freedom of speech says you're welcome to buy what you damn well please.
