should be quicker than the elise, when i get it started - think the battery is shot - charging it up seems to do very little

sorry, knew it was one or t'other... i was suprised when i learned to ride and took my test how much safer it was than i had anticipated - only had one 'near miss' when someone almost pulled out infront of me... i'm off to get a new battery now, more news later...

it only cost me £250 quid too! result!

Its just the fact that you have some leather instead of a ton of steel and a few airbags. Puts you in a much more precarious situation.

    bah humbug

There seems to be an increasing number of bikers on this forum, which needlessly to say is a good thing

Nice buy tho, and you'll love the sense of freedom - when my licence restrictions are up I'm looking to get a CBR-600f, though atm I ride a Honda Varadero.

£250 is a bargain, how did you manage that?

Bikes are statistically far more dangerous than cars, that's a fact. I just got one, and I'm taking it very easy. Well, pretty easy.

Bikers are far less likely to be involved in collisions, though any collisions that do occur are far more likely to cause death or serious injury. If either of you are serious about becoming a biker, look out for your local IAM group, and do some training with them. The worst it can do is lower your insurance premium, the best is potentially save your life

the bike was a non-runner (still is actually)... new battery fitted, but the fuel tap/valve is shot methinks (£65 to replace!)... might take it apart tomorrow...

spent too long playing with the fuel valve, thinking it was broke (might still be) until i realised it's vacuum actuated - so won't pass the suck/blow test... all back together now, still won't start (but got some ignition whilst spraying carb-cleaner into the inlets) so thought i'd bump start it but - no gears!!! aghhhh

i'm having a 10 min sabatical here now, to calm down :/

... gears were still there, but the issue still seems to be fuel related... wouldn't bump start either

Becoming a biker? I've had a licence a lot longer than you you cheeky scamp!

But yeah, I was going to look into joining the IAM. I'll sort myself some proper protective gear first though as I doubt I'll make a good impression turning up to a session in some Tesco jeans and an old leather jacket that's two sizes too big.

didn't spot that - i think i'm now 'a biker' seeing as i have a bike.. and a license... but the am might be worth a shot if it saves me some money - funny, 'cos i'd not consider the iam for my car - bunch of wierdos with wierd ways of theorising overtaking into 5 stages, when i manage it in one...
