sorry, knew it was one or t'other... i was suprised when i learned to ride and took my test how much safer it was than i had anticipated - only had one 'near miss' when someone almost pulled out infront of me... i'm off to get a new battery now, more news later...
it only cost me £250 quid too! result!
Much more precarious till you roll it A lot of people argue bikes are safer, lol.

Nice buy tho, and you'll love the sense of freedom - when my licence restrictions are up I'm looking to get a CBR-600f, though atm I ride a Honda Varadero.
£250 is a bargain, how did you manage that?
Bikes are statistically far more dangerous than cars, that's a fact. I just got one, and I'm taking it very easy. Well, pretty easy.

the bike was a non-runner (still is actually)... new battery fitted, but the fuel tap/valve is shot methinks (£65 to replace!)... might take it apart tomorrow...
spent too long playing with the fuel valve, thinking it was broke (might still be) until i realised it's vacuum actuated - so won't pass the suck/blow test... all back together now, still won't start (but got some ignition whilst spraying carb-cleaner into the inlets) so thought i'd bump start it but - no gears!!! aghhhh
i'm having a 10 min sabatical here now, to calm down :/
... gears were still there, but the issue still seems to be fuel related... wouldn't bump start either
Becoming a biker? I've had a licence a lot longer than you you cheeky scamp!Originally Posted by dave87
But yeah, I was going to look into joining the IAM. I'll sort myself some proper protective gear first though as I doubt I'll make a good impression turning up to a session in some Tesco jeans and an old leather jacket that's two sizes too big.
