I suppose I'd better justify my thoughts on Citroen vs Pug in this, before it goes up in the air.

I have had all 4 cars in the same car park, sat next to each other, and driven them all on the same day, on the same roads, within 15 minutes of each other.

The 106 is still my favourite, the Xsara was so good I got my rallying mate Dave (who drives my rally car) to get one. The 306 is superior in most strict performance ways, being firmer, and easier to get into trouble in (making it one of the best cars to rally) BUT...the Saxo was horrible. It was not even close the 106, it seemed harder and had less traction, it didn't lift off oversteer so well and when it did it was uncompliant and a bit scary.

So...from my own experiences I can sssure ya all....they aint the same. If they WERE, they'd have been the same money..but they weren't. Pugs were always more money. Money well spent too.

    VTS for the last time

    vtr is a 1.6 8v
    vts is a 1.6 16 v
like the 106 gti they use the same engine

but i dont like saxos that much, image is more of a chav than a cool hatch

regarding your above post, i have asked on a saxo and 106 forum what the diifernce is and there isnt anything, they have all said this and these guys own the respective cars, the vts is very slightly faster but is cheaper as you said

ok.....good man....well argued.....VTS IS the one..VTR is the lower spec.

    Well done, you're right....

But remember....similar engines mean nothing to the rest of the car!

Thse cars do not drive the same. You can MAKE them drive the same.....but out of the factory..they are not the same.

Don't forget...we are hardware site..and people on this forum own AMD and Intel cpu's.....ATI and nVidia cards...and they all have crazily different opinions. SOme are right, but not all.

I'll get you an example. Hold on.

Here....to prove that all web sites make diff claims and you need to be circumspect in trusting the interweb on anything.

    http://www.carfolio.com/specificatio...100738&Peugeot
    http://www.carfolio.com/specificatio...1&Citro%C3%ABn

Even THAT has the engines with different power outputs and I don't know if it's the right or wrong. I know Pug claimed a higher output (they always have upper hand as they pay more into devlopment fund) but I don't know if it's right or wrong.

don't fiddle with that engine dude......it's nearly perfect. No turbo.
Besides...it'll kill your insurance...pmight as well get a 968 CLub Sport and be done with it.

Get the 106 , but keep it pretty standard untill insurance becomes a little more reasonable on something more exciting

modifying a car isn't a good investment ( its good fun ) and you'll never make back what you spend - speaking from quite a bit of experiance on this one.

Quite... Drive it loads and enjoy it. Don't make a spectacle of yourself or in any way make people think you're a chav
