Agreed, if this was the 50s we would be hearing about the plucky brit, his daring attempt and how he's battling back to health. Now-a-days even the slightest hint something might be a little bit unsafe and nanny state launches into action. No wonder everything is going to the dogs, no one is allowed to take any risks or find out for themselves or try something new. You can see it in everything like modern housing that just badly parrots the past rather than trying to do anything new or of quality.
I for one am glad that Hammond is on the way back, if only help kids have someone to look up to that does know how to have fun and take a risk.
Apparetly 300mph jet powered cars are safer than a german monorail
Well said! I'm sure Donald Campbell didn't have anyone bitching about racing licenses after he climbed into BlueBird and wasn't seen again, he's still deemed a hero to this day.
I dread to think what kind of People our Kids are going to be in years to come, Children need to be able to take risks to learn about pushing the boundaries nds how to keep safe, how can you know your own limits if your never allowed to take the risks
So glad Richard Hammond is getting better my eldest Son has been on tenterhooks waiting for news to come through....he was devasted to begin with.
I heard that Hammond had already broken the record, he decided to have another go and crashed on that run, don't know wether it's true or not.

He's ok, damaged all the cartilidge in his knee and was sent home with his knee wrapped in a big bandage and is on crutches, he has to rest it completey and he needs to go back on Wednesday
Doctor said he was lucky he was so fit, else it could've been a lot worse
Reality check? Driving supercars around an airfield, or doing donuts on a salty Welsh beach in them?
If that's your reality mate, then good luck to you. Feel free to share some with me. Personally my car based reality is paying a fortune in fuel and insurance for the privilege of driving an old banger.
Erm- that's more or less what I said, Dave then disagreed with me, and you agree with him? Explain how that works?Originally Posted by Gunbuster
if you dislike programs that dont fit in with reality, youd have to cut out all soaps, sitcoms, sport (cause real people have real jobs and dont get paid to run around!) music channels, the news (its happening to someone else somewhere else, hardly gonna affect us eh?)
sell the telly, buy petrol with the money. your sorted!

Hehe, I don't think he'll have a scar
He's still sore, he's meant to be resting his knee completely but he's up and down the stairs wobbling about, he even hobbled around to Nan and Grandads on his crutches ( with my support ) good job they are only a couple of doors away.
We took him to Wrexham Maelor, he has to go back on Wednesday to see the Doc, so he's happy he's off School until then
Heh the Maelor, one of the few hospitals with less medical staff than office staff. Hope he comes through ok. Should though.
Hehe thanks
There was a lovely Porter who escorted us down ( we went in through the main entrance instead ) and pushed Michael in a wheelchair to A&E, he did ask if we could go straight in but the staff weren't having it
I'm just glad we got out before the injured drunkards came in I was quite surprised really, got in just before 7 and we were seeing a Doctor by 8.30 I was expecting to be there for a lot longer.
According to BBC.co.uk, the new series of top gear has been delayed while they investigate the crash.
In better news, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance has now recieved £155,000 in donations. Their now trying to fund a second helicopter.

I read that Clarkson and the producer had said they weren't going ahead with the series without the Hamster. So even though most of the new series has been filmed, they're delaying it until he's fit enough to complete the rest.
