    Thumbs down Astras are rubbish

Just needed to vent my feelings about Vauxhall Astras.

2 weeks ago my car needed new front brakes pipes which involved dropping the sub-frame and replacing the rear wheel cyclinders. combined with a service and mot that was over £600.

Now one of my coil springs have gone. another few hundred.

i know it's just plain unlucky to happen 2 weeks apart but i'm still going to blame it on the fact it must be a shoddy car. i dont think i'll buy a vauxhall again.

Not an expert on cars but ..how much was it for the brake pipes alone? and why did it involve so much work? My "Vauxhall" has just passed its mot but had an advisory on my brake pipes ,quote for that plus doing a front brake that slightly sticks was only £100 and i use a Vauxhall garage and my car is slightly bigger than an Astra!!! Sorry but seems a big and expensive job compared to what i was quoted .

it's an x reg, think thats about 2000 so not too old in the grand scheme.

the pipes themselves were cheap but it just took them ages. i got a couple of quotes from other garages and it was a fair estimate (compared to the others). the job on the pipes was a couple of hundred i think, it was removing the sub-frame that then made it more expensive. i've been told this is not always required but in this case was. i was very suspicious but a second garage (with no connection to the first) confirmed it needed to be done.

perhaps the moral should be not 'dont buy vauxhall' perhaps it should be 'don't buy a car from your brother'.
