I used to go past that showroom every single day on the way to college.

I work I sit next to a guy that has driven the veyron at 200mph plus and I bet he can't wait to test this baby

I pointed out the rear overhang - look at that immense diffuser under it. Should keep it glued down at high speed.

OK, it has a big rear diffuser but so does the veyron....no doubt because it needs it.

    Veyrons rear:

Something tells me that will stick a LOT better!

The rear diffuser looks far to high on that bristol. All show. If its much more than 4" off the ground, it doesnt do diddly squat. Its why F1 cars are so low even though they bottom out - because the underside aero actuallly works :|

I don't think any road tire will last until 270mph(i'd put money on it tbh), but nice to see the fastest car in the world back in britain and it is very pretty.

now I just need to save up £351,628 more and I can have one

I like a lot of Bristols, but can't see the point of that. You might as well just bung a couple of turbos on a Viper, would be more or less the same effect and about a quarter of the price.

Personally I want an Ultima with a Twin Turbo LS7.

Yes thats why bristol put it on there. Have you any idea of Bristol's design team ?

IIRC the one of the earlier concepts of the Bristol was to be aerodynamically netural ( they wanted to great a 200mph car that woudl do 30 mpg )

am I the only person scared of the way it looks...and the potential of anything above 150 in it?

It looks.......tall! I'd test most stuff at speed, but you'd not get me in that. Way too much glass too.... my brain is shouting "what is rigidity like in it?"

Pretty car, in an unusual way, but it's not.....right for 1000 bhp +

The Viper probably wouldn't do 225 MPH, even with 1000 BHP
The 500 BHP one cant crack 185 MPH despite what Dodge claim. (Source: Autocar's last issue where they use VW's test track)
Its all acedemic anyway. I doubt any potential owner of either will ever get to do over 200 MPH anyway as there aren't many tracks in the world where any car can do this speed.

not a fan of the latest bristols to be honest...

the 404 drophead is one of my all time faves tho...

best thing about bristol is they dont just sell to anyone, YOU have to be good enough for them to think about selling you a car, which means that footballer proles cant have one

That was the roadster wasn't it? IIRC it did something like 182 with 500 BHP. If you ignore anything other than aerodynamic resistance, then a car which did 182mph with 500BHP would do 257mph with 1000bhp (since wind resistance increases with the square of the speed). So it'd be in the ballpark.

Yes it was the roadster, but remember theoretical power required to reach top speed is proportional to the top speed cubed.
Wind resistance is proportional to the square of the speed as you say, but in addition to that power is proportional to force times velocity.

I get a top speed of 229 MPH based on that so I was out in the first case
That does however assume that in both cases the car hits peak power at its top speed.

Its a beast, and an ugly one at that, but all the best beasts are ugly.
