Many of you know we are currently searching for a replacement for mum's v70, and that we predominantly looked at a Volvo to replace it. The current one, however, has developed the problem relating to the ETM module (throttle position sensor basically).
According to Watchdog:
Volvo of North America has just extended the warranty on the ETM to ten years or 322,000km (200,000 miles) on the clock. In the US and Canada, no fewer than 75,000 Volvos have had the problem. US auto-safety regulators are now investigating the safety risks and could potentially order a recall.
Yet they refuse to do the same in the UK. Is it me or does this suggest a manufacturer previously known for decent customer service, has gone down the tube? If it is found that Mums car is affected, then we are looking at a £600 bill for a manufacturing fault (part only afaik). Not exactly a small price to pay then....
