Ah crap! Now im in trouble...

Ok so I have put a deposit down on a car today, used but a bit of fun, trading in my Civic sport for it and a bit o' cash.

Now I come to look for the V5 today and I can't find it, I recently moved into my first house and I think i might have left it in the old house so its long gone now.

So after paying a deposit and planning to go get the car next Saturday I find myself without a V5, this is a problem I beleive, especially as the part ex i am doing is at a dealer. So I call up the DVLA to have a chat, some rude bloke tells me i can't do anything over the phone, period.

Tells me i have to mail in a V62, then tells me it will take anywhere between 4 and 6 weeks.



So now i might have to lose my deposit and move on as my part ex will be worth less in 6 weeks (new civic 3dr out and new month)

Have you checked all the boxes from moving? and who moved into your old place? Surely if they came across a V5 they would forward it on...

I am still checking, but it doesn't look good, it was a rented property and was probably left in a pile of papers somewhere, so unlikely that they have seen it, they have probably chucked it.

Its a 2.5 V6...2 seater.....guess heh

If it was a straight 6 I'd say z4, boxer 6 I'd say Boxster 2.5, V6 2.5 has me stumped tho...

EDIT - Audi TT? but I don't remember them doing a 2.5

pretty sure thats b*ll. a friend had a temporary v5 as his hadnt arrived when we left on the rally. he got a handwritten v5, or something, from a dvla office. phone them up again and enquire about a temporary v5..

Sorry its not a V its a straight, and you already said the car above

Called them again, its a definite no and a definite mail in job as there is also a change of address to go through on it as well, had it not needed a change of address I might have been able to do something

tell them you dont need a change of address then - if you're getting shot of it it doesnt matter

no can do - then even said the policy had changed on that - either way its £19 for something that could end up costing me hundreds

5lab - Wouldn't it then get sent to the wrong address?

MattD - Is it from a BMW dealer or independent Garage? BMW dealer should be more accommodating, unless there is another buyer for the car. (I'm guessing its second hand, as you said Civic traded in for it and cash)
