    new corsair case?

hi before i take the plunge for a new case is there any news on a new corsair case? i have been disapointed by the reviews for air cooling with this case.
i love the case but its too big and i only want to use air cooling!
any hints or ideas when there may be a new one would be fantastic!

    Re: new corsair case?

There are no reviews showing any valid testing results for bad air cooling. Most of that is incorrect speculation. We have done extensive testing before releasing the case and it does well with air or other cooling.

We have no announcements for any new cases at this time.

    Re: new corsair case?

hi yellowbeard thanks for the reply, i watched a few youtube reviews, it didn`t work well with air cooling even with the h50, it was suggested that watercooling is the only way to get it to operate fully?
it was by a well known forum custom pc dealer.
so would you say it is safe with air cooling such as the h50, i know its watercooled to a point but you know what i mean?

    Re: new corsair case?

It works great with the H50. Also, I'd like a link to the review you are speaking of. As I noted, we have done extensive R&D and the case works fine with properly implemented air cooling.

    Re: new corsair case?

If this is the same as the written review they wrote then there's a flaw in their testing method. I originally skimmed their article and thought the same thing, dead spots in the PCI area. If you check the 6th page of their written review it mentions the temperatures were taken using the plain, straight out of the box 800D, ie. No fans installed in the roof. They did further testing with 2 fans (in the linked video after about 5:30mins) installed in the roof and the temperatures dropped a lot, very close to the comparative case (Coolermaster 922 I believe). I'm sure a third roof mounted fan would drop it a little further.

In reality, who would spend this kind of money on an 800D and not install roof fans?

Too big for air cooling? Not really. There's still decent air flow in the case when all fans are installed. It's not the best air cooling case around and I don't think Corsair are claiming that is it. There are also much cheaper options if the extra "features" of the 800D don't grab your fancy. If your only concern about the case is its air cooling performance then you shouldn't be worried, unless you want top end air cooling. Then you probably want one of those cases with a giant propeller on the side. Sorry to sound a bit vague but cases are very subjective purchases.

My NB, SB, and internal temperatures are very similar to when the same hardware (minus the 5970) was installed in my Thermaltake Mozart case. This case had 4 intake fans (3 blowing on motherboard, 1 across HDD cage) and 5 exhaust (1 near CPU, 4 on 2x120.2 radiators), all 120mm. Again, that case wasn't the best air cooled case around but it was more than adequate.
