No its actually a fan that Zalman developed in parallel with NASA, they use it cool the reactors of Columbia, its basically a 12cm fan with aerodynamic fins it displaces 124CFM for 0dB at 2000 RPM, with the controller you can reduce the noise to -12dBa that means it sucks the noise from your other fans at the same time for a totally cool and silent PC. Definetly worth the investment !

So you are saying it has an anti-noise generator built into the fan?

Well it wasnt done on purpose but the fan was completely silent at 2000rpm so, according to the well known laws of physics, if you reduce the speed of the fan it makes less noise, thus absorbing surrounding noise. Accidental but facinating discovery, in the same vein as the discovery of penicillin really.

I can't possibly make a negative noise effect. Slowing something down that is already silent, would just keep it silent!

Hey I thought that too but then saw the fan, but don take my word of it just ask the people at NASA :Here It somekind of blackhole for sound kind of thing. Works for their shuttle, they did that and the fan grill mod thing now you wouldn t even notice the thing lifting off if it wasn't for the really loud countdown

I think the fact you claimed they used these £700+ 12cm fans to cool reactors in Columbia to start off with was a bit to say the least...

the introduced the idea of stopping the fan altogether, hence the name "Vari-Speed" 0-5000rpms, makking it "absolute" silent.

il upload some videos to show you how it works. mine arrived today by the Royal Air Force.
