    extra airflow

I currently own the aopen h600b tower. I want to get some extra airflow through my machine unfortunatly there isnt a front intake fan mount and it isnt possible to mod that area of the case.

any suggestion on modding my case for an extra fan or any other suggestions?

    thanks

without any kind of front opening you are really limited.

Have you got any shots of the inside front of that chassis?

    impossible

think im gonna ditch the idea of modding the case. too much hassle. I would have to hack through the front of my case.

Im thinking of picking up a new case. What can you recommend for a nice neat case with good airflow? The new antec p180 looks pretty good.

Lian Li PC-V1000B - cooling setup is very nice in this case
Akasa Eclipse-62 - i personally use this case and only have good things to say about it. (link

    cases

i do like the akasa case. nice and wide ive heard.

i am interested in lian-li case because of the seperate compatments they have. Does this benefit cooling or restrict it?

    I use one of these:

    http://www.coolermaster-europe.com/i...1+CM%20Stacker

Coolermaster CM Stacker. Loads of drive bays, lots of fans I have 2 x 12cm fans (1 front and 1 back), 3 x 8cm fans 2 at back and 1 on top, a 300mm cylindrical crossflow fan which blows air above and below the motherboard plus the fans in the PSU which, on this case, you can fit at the bottom if you want

I got it from overclock at

    http://www.overclock.co.uk/customer/...g=Coolermaster

but they only have the silver in stock just now - I got the blue one

Oh you can also fit BTX motherboards by rearranging the case which is handy if they ever become prevalent

i havent actually read a review of it and looked at it up against other cases but i think the layout they have used in it looks to me as it would work really well, i wish i had got that case now, although i do like my akasa with its 2x120mm delta fans blasting tons of cfm.
I wish you could get a long enough PCI riser/extension which you coul get a PCI/PCI-x card in the slot on the side of the case, that would be cool. Would be nice to have a nice new sound card in mine, i hate onboard.

thanks for the suggestions. I'll look in to it. Ive heard the stacker is a good size for water cooling. Something which i may dabble in a soon as my student loan come through.

put the case on feet (so its raised) have an intake at the bottom and an exaught at the top and back.

it's best to have a negative pressure in a case, the general rule of thumb is 1.5 outtakes for every 1 intake.

Think carefully about the stacker if you live a fair distance from uni, its huge (takes up nearly all the back seat of my punto)

i use to have generic case with 2 5 inch bays free, i put a bit of pespex instead of the drive covers with a 80mm hole drilled in the middle and hot glue a fan behind.

    hey presto extra cooling

    crude but effective

but at the end of the day a better case is probably the best idea

Yup, another recommendation for the Stacker here. Great case, excellent cooling.

I'm currently using a Chieftec BX-01-B-B-B that i picked up from Ebuyer last year for about £25(a steal). Has plenty fan slots(2 on front, 2 on back, 2 on sides) with fan filters. The CM Stacker is gonna be my next purchase though for when i upgrade to A64.

For a decent cheap case then the Superflowers are pretty good. Picked one up for a system i built for my nephew. Was only about £15 from Ebuyer and i was pretty impressed.

The CM Stacker comes with anti-vibration feet but there are also a set of good quality castors in the box so you can wheel it about if you want. Yes it does have a floor vent and suvvicient space below where the motherboard goes to either mount a PSU or water cooling

Basically, there's more space than you can throw a stick at With everything fitted to the case (PSU, MB, disks etc you can remove motherboard without having to take anything other than riser cards out - it has so much clearance it's amazing but as pointed out, yes, it is a BIG case.
