    Monitor for my PS3

I've recently got my hands on a brand spanking new PS3 (launch night) but found out that my current monitor(SM730BF) won't work with it as it does not support HDCP. I'm now in the market for a new monitor, so I've decided to get a new monitor, rather than playing on the living room TV (not HD).

One of the possible ones I've come up with is this:

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...id=510&subcat=

It supports everything I want(1080p, HDMI input, HDCP etc.), but has anyone had any experience with this monitor and the PS3? Is it possible for someone to confirm whether or not it will work?

    Thanks in advance.

have read plenty of reviews on this monitor as its my next big purchase!
as it has a hdmi input with hdcp (on the hdmi and over dvi) it will work with the ps3 although u will have to get sound from a separate source such as an amplifier or using your pc sound cards line in.

there is a good review here:

and this monitor is cheaper on ebuyer at £599

Yeah, I just saw it on Ebuyer. Can you use the normal componant output at the same time but not plug in the video cable, just the audio leads, or have I got to use the optical out?

I have heard horrible stories of RMAing BenQ's, supposedly they don't have a base in the UK and they hire contractors to handle your RMA which usually goes terribly

Why not get a normal HDTV? You won't get the 1080p but from what I hear it is overated anyway and you would end up with a screen about 10"+ bigger for the same price

If you're looking to replace your existing monitor at the same time fair enough, but if this is just going to be a PS3 monitor I'd second the vote for a TV. Since your monitor has a x1200 res, you'll either be playing letterboxed or scaled.

1080 LCD TV prices are dropping pretty sharpish, but they're still a few hundred more than your monitor of choice. There's a few new models on the horizon so it might be worth waiting a bit to see if the first gen 1080 LCD's drop any further ?
