    XBOX 360 - How p**ssed am I !

    ROFL .............not

After 3 days of intermittent faults and i must add Great gaming my shiny new XBOX 360 now fails to start at all. It powers on, 3 of the 'ring of death' lights flash repeatedly and thats it.

How very annoying. Dabs are being really helpful and as I cannot talk to anyone on the phone I resorted to an 'online chat assistant' lovely.

He asked me what all the faults were, and then told me to use the 'R' for return button online, how nice, no empathy just use the button. Now more worryingly is their returns terms:

dabs.com plc accepts to act on your behalf with the manufacturer of the product(s) listed above according to the terms and conditions of the manufacturer's warranty for the product(s). All warranty returns will be at the customers expense unless goods developed a fault within 6 months and if the customer chooses to use his/her own carrier then the customer shall be responsible for the goods until proof of delivery to dabs.com is provided by the customer's carrier. If the customer chooses to use dabs.com's recommended carrier (via our online collection system) then the customer shall be responsible for the goods until our carrier collects the goods. In all cases title of the goods shall remain with the title holder until any payments, refunds or exchange of goods takes place. Please note that refunds, replacements or repairs are at the discretion of the manufacturer. Please expect between four and six weeks for a resolution. We cannot accept any returns without a valid Returns Number.

4-6 weeks, I have had the thing for 4 days!!!

Perhaps I should just ask for a refund?

Second question is, does my progress for my saved games (only really worried bout crackdown) My prepaid Xbox Gold 12month membership and my downloaded games from arcade get stored anywhere else apart from my HD?? cos if it doesn't how do I keep them?

    I an soooooooooooooooo annoyed

ask for refund. then buy another well actually you've still paid for the delivery. if you get that back then you can buy another without losing money. your allowed to ask for an item to be refunded for anything within 7 days IIRC. plus its broke too! piss taking i say. dabs took 8 weeks to get my motherboard fixed.

When you get your new box, just recover the gamertag and your account and all the credits will be transferred to your new machine.

As for saved games, either keep the HDD or... um... that's it I'm afraid.

Have you tried powering up without the HDD attached?

I have just powered up after 30 mins or so and it's working again, I'd love not to have to send it back but with all these problems in 3 days I can't help thinking I may have a duff unit

Nip out and get yerself a memory cart, pop that in and copy your saves over.

iirc, didn't MS have a faster turnaround?

    Tried calling them?

I was very impressed with Microsoft's service when my 360 died (ok not great the product failed but meh)

Called them on a Monday and then instantly e-mailed me the details to stick on the Box and said UPS would collect in the morning

    Tuesday - UPS Collected

Wednesday - Got an e-mail saying received and being tested

Thursday - Confirmed Faulty, new one on its way

Friday - Morning got a delivery from UPS and a phone call in the evening asking if everything was ok.

    Cant complain about that

The distance selling regs are irrelevant. Whats relevant here is the sale of goods act. Reject the 360 as faulty at time of purchase and go for a full refund for evrything, including the delivery cost. Then just order another.
They sold you a duff unit - it is their problem not yours no matter what they tell you.
I would personally get a video of it being duff before sending them a letter, recorded delivery telling them you are rejecting it and your reasons why.

Hows it going Syd, still working?

Mine has been ok, I got a bit scared when a background in Crackdown jumped a bit last night, but nothing else. Probably just the menu system.

I still haven't managed more than 2 hours on it! Getting very frustrated!

Wouldn't bother, you'd get a refurb rather than a brand new one.

I recently replaced my 360 and I had it back within 5 working days. Can't complain really, very good service from Microsoft.

I keep toying with the idea of getting an xbox 360, but the amount of people that have had faults is above the norm from what Ive seen and read

Yeah your pretty much guaranteed to get a fault with it, but at least they usually crop up in your warranty period, unlike the DREing PS2.

Veles, i wouldn't say it was guaranteed but there is a higher level than maybe other electrical consumer goods.

Don't forget though most people only post in forums with problems not solutions so you hear alot more negative stuff. I have 5 friends with an Xbox360, none have had a problem, 2 have had it since launch.

I've had to have 2 of my 360s replaced since buying it from launch, the first time I was able to just go into game and they gave me a new one, and this time I've phoned up MS and they are going to pick it up and replace it. Yes they do go wrong but MS seem to be willing to take it on the chin and replace them.

Well I have arranged to return it to Dabs and requested a full refund, I have bought a memory card today and will try to fire it up tonight to transfer the save games (mainly crackdown as im 6 bosses and 11 stars into it and would not enjoy doing all that again!!!!)

Had I not spent £220 on games/accesories I would give up and buy a PS3, but my current committment means trying again, just NOT with dabs, NEVER again, they really do leave a lot to be desired when it comes to CS, just wish SCAN sold 360s.
