Forza 2: Got it Thursday night, first impressions

    Hey all

Got myself a copy of Forza 2 last night while I was out looking for camping gear. Not sure that they should have sold it to me as its not released until today, but either way Ive waited nearly a year for this so I wasnt complaining.

First impressions are that it looks stunning and the cars feel great Its nothing like the demo at all in my opinion, there is much more of a GT4 feel to it. The way the cars handle and behave is nothing short of superb

There are plenty of options and ways of modding your car, including a handy auction feature if you want to try and make more money on your spare cars,

First off, anyone who has been waiting for this game go and buy it and see for yourself. Its an absolute classic, and silverstone looks fantastic!

tracks still look as dull as dishwater? I think I would get totally bored of racing round tracks... I like a bit of variance myself.

Nah, I think the tracks are well constructed and fairly exciting to race. If you go off big style your losing all sorts of bodywork, and not going anywhere in a hurry. If only I had a wheel I think id enjoy it more

I think to get the true experience of this game though you need to turn off all of the assists (which is the way I play all of my racers) I havent yet tried it with STM and TCS/ABS on yet, but if you slightly overcook it into a hairpin you lock your brakes and lose various body parts

I think the only thing this game should have is an essential maintainance schedule. Maybe too realistic for some, but it would be great if you needed a clutch change after some shabby shifting, or oil/filter changes after so many miles?

I got it last night, and was playing with the force feedback wheel.. I have to say I was loving it!!!

thats until my DVD drive made a lovely churning sound, and the level didn't load for a long long time. Eventually I rebooted the console and from then on it stopped reading any disks at all.

The console is currently on its way back to MS for a service repair... FAB!! :-/

Track racing is always a bit bland compared to street racing, but I think theres enough variation in track locations, and the graphics are pretty enough that I like it.

I love it, been playing on it every spare minute I have, just want to get further and further into it!

Started with the CRX SiR, then won a Clio RS V6, then a Lancer Evoultion 8 MR which I pushed to over 500 brake, then now I've bought a 350z which I put in a Skyline's engine, and its S class at the moment.

I love the handling and when you are pushing a really quick lap you can feel it, it gets a bit scary and makes your adrenaline kick in a little bit.

10/10 from me, can see myself wasting many hours playing this!

It is good Best sim racer on a console bar none.

Not quite GTR2, but there is much more to do in this

Depends on your taste really. I'd rather play a track racing game than street racing. Mainly I guess because most street racing games are aimed at kids and not very sim like.

Looking forward to this, will pick it up at the weekend no doubt

Well, by that I meant the surroundings can be a little bland, although some of the tracks have some nice features to look at.

I'm desperately trying to get into this game but have reverted to R6 Vegas on a couple of occasions for some light relief.

I've bought a MINI Cooper S and have started Career Mode and have earned about 4,000 CR so far - not enough to do anything really.

How are you guys earning money to buy a new car or customise your existing car?

I started with a much better car, but just tune up you mini, and as you earn more money you level up, which unlocks new races which will earn you more money that the first few races.

Takes a couple of hours, but once you get your car decently tuned up and can start to win the bigger prize races, money should start rolling in. Also, on harder difficulties you earn more money, so turning stuff off like breaking lines get you more.
