am going over to US soon. The price there is approx US$129, but approx £99 here
someone warned me the US version might not accept local (UK) games - is this true?
TIA

DS games are region free, you'll just need a different charger.
or you can pick up a USB charger, even the highstreet 'game' store sells these.

Some US games have trouble linking to UK versions, but only some.
For example i have a UK mario kart and my wife has the US version, they work fine.
However we also have Super Mario Bros US which doesn't connect locally to the UK version. Hit and miss i guess, but the single player should be fine.
My US demo version of Metroid wont do MP with the UK version.
The hardware is totally region free, you'll need a new charger or an adaptor (I think the charge can take 110-230v). The games should work fine in it.
USB charger + mains adapter for a USB is <£5 from dealextreme.com so it's all good
(my DS is an american one, works great still, only issue is some of the games if you get multinationailty ones)
i wonder if the us ds will still link up to uk wii or is is the game that makes a difference
i think the only game that connects to the wii is pokerman diamond/pearl
