Getting a 360 over the weekend games + cables??

Probably getting a 360 elite over the weekend, the only problem is that I dont currently have a HD TV

So how do I connect it to my analog TV (has s-vhs + scart), I also want to connect it to my crt monitor. The elite appears to come with a couple of different cables, but not sure what they connect to.

Game wise I will be getting Halo 3, gears of war and also after an arcade driving game, forza or PGR3?

    Cheers

I prefer pgr3 to forza but pgr4 is out soon. forza is more realistic maybe but i just didn't like it.

the likes of dirt, sega rally are more arcadey but personally i thought sega rally was crank and dirt had no proper online mp not sure about offline.

the standard scart/component lead on my premium has a switch for sd/hd.

Re: Getting a 360 over the weekend games + cables??

You get a component cable as well as the HDMI cable so you can use the bundled RGB-SCART block to plug it into your TV. If you want it on your CRT you'll need a VGA cable which is sold separately.

Forza isn't an arcade racer, so you'll want PGR. PGR4 is out two weeks tomorrow though, so unless you can get it cheap (which you probably can) it might be worth holding out a little longer.

I dont mid things being a bit sim ish, I do play GT legends onthe PC every now and again. Quiet like the idea of a cross between that and GT4.

Cheers for the info on the cables, might get a svhs one at some point, just want to get up and running.

Re: Getting a 360 over the weekend games + cables??

the 360 elite comes with 2 cables: a normal HDMI cable, and a 360 component hd cable

the component hd cable has 6 leads: 3 component video cables, 2 stereo audio cables, and a composite video cable. combine the composite & stereo cables with the supplied SCART block to get a valid composite SCART signal (NOT RGB-SCART).

for use on a monitor, you need the VGA cable (sold separately), unless you have a nice monitor with component in like a 24" dell widescreen

Test drive is okay if you like open road racing and various other challenges
PGR4 - as said, supposed to be released soon
Juiced 2 - this is due out tomorrow and looks pretty good
Burnout - due out before christmas and is on my list of games

Re: Getting a 360 over the weekend games + cables??

You can get PGR3 for £9.99 from CEX or £14.99 from Blockbuster/Game preowned, I bought it last week and it is great fun.

I would really try and get the RGB scart lead for it if you don't have HD. Composite is horrible, don't bother with sVHS it still isn't as good as RGB. Obviously if your TV can take component at 480p that would be the best one to use but that is only on quite expensive non HD tvs

Good call on Gears of war... completed on easy setting... working through hard now... but getting distracted by rainbow 6 and halo 3

Oh not sure if you have thought about this, but get Xbox Live makes game replayability never ending.

Re: Getting a 360 over the weekend games + cables??

Well I nearly purchased one on the way home from work yesterday, unfortunately I tripped and fell in to the pub, and by the time I staggered out all the shops were closed. Had another attempt today but everywhere has sold out of elites. Option 2 is that Woolworts are doing the premium with halo 3 for £250, latest premiums have the HDMI port on them. So will attempt to get something tomorrow.
