    DS vs DS Lite

So which one is better value for money?

My friend is insisting that the low cost of the old DS makes it better value for money than the new DS Lite.

A second hand DS is a good £30 or so cheaper than a second hand DS Lite.

If you guys not guessed yet, I am almost broke but I been hankering for a DS for awhile...

    Thanks in Advance!

    Re: DS vs DS Lite

Depends - if you have american sized hands, often play in places with good ambient light, and don't really want to take your DS on the move - get the DS fat.

Otherwise the DSL is a no brainer - smaller, more comfortable to hold, much better battery life, better backlight, prettier (approaching apple like levels of prettyness) - its worth the premium

    Re: DS vs DS Lite

I got the 1st gen DS (fat one) and find its comfortable has adquate power to last for quite a few hours of playtime.

I can see the appeal of the Lite version although I've not used one to be able to comment on the screen/battery life.

£30 for the original DS is a good deal. (I bought mine from PC World when they had them for £40)

I like my Lite. Updated version and has improvements as stated above. Your mate is just jealous he can't afford to swap his over.

Oh how I wish that was true...unfortunately he has the money to do stuff such as whimsically spend £175 on 21,000 MS points for his xbox360 in one day. Him and his wife are careful with their cash (such as managing to buy a £2k SLR camera for just £800).

Anyhow, thanks for people's reply. I may just get the fat one as I like playing with that although I'll see if I can get my hands on the Lite and see how fiddly it is.

    Re: DS vs DS Lite

DS Lite is a million times better

Better battery, better image (much much brighter) ,and much cooler in look. Plus, price is the same.

    Re: DS vs DS Lite

I upgraded to a Lite when they came out and kept my old one. I tried the old one the other day and it seemed so ugly, awkward and dim that I immediately put it back to bed. Absolutely no contest.

I swapped to the DS Lite soon after it came out, definitely worth it in my oppinion. Doubt I'll change to the DSi though.

    Re: DS vs DS Lite

I got my DS Lite for £25 off ebay because one of the hinges was broken...bought a protective case for 99p (that has hinges on it), clicked it in, problem solved I'd reccomend picking up a Lite over the normal model, just watch ebay and nab yourself a bargain
