    PS3 to VGA

OK I have my PS3 hooked up via component to a converter box, which then I can plug my VGA cable into, which is fed to my projector. I was wondering if there is any official PS3 to VGA connection cable yet? Seeing as MS have one I thought it really sensible.

Seems silly Sony have overlooked this.

Missed that thread over there, that Component to VGA box is what I have at the moment. Does a good job.

    Re: PS3 to VGA

Well I got the PS3/Wii to VGA cable today and tried it out on a bog standard square 19" monitor. Everything comes in the box (including a gender changer) and cables. THe only thing you need is a headphone jack to jack to jack into your sound system.

You might have to set the display up to component and 720P first depending on the monitor you plug it into, even a reset of the PS3 system didn't make the image come on screen. Despite calibrating the monitor the image was still too far to the left, however in game the image centred enough to play. I had a bash at Stardust, COD4 and Soul Calibur 4.

For £25 its a good buy if you don't want to shell out on an HDTV just yet. I would recommend though a wide screen monitor to display the image properly. I had a quick go on the 19" widescreen we had and the whole picture could be seen.

    Re: PS3 to VGA

I have a 17" lcd monitor. Only has 1 vga and 1 dvi and I have been reading a little about this.

Is it worth going this route (is it simple and ps3 games will display okay) or should I just grab a cheap 20" hd ready lcd tv?

I suppose you could although am not hearing much positive results from some. My monitor is not hdcp either as it's over 2 years old.

    Re: PS3 to VGA

You can go DVI->HDMI there are converters around. On a 17" monitor or even a 19" its not that good, you really need a widescreen. If you can it would be better to invest in a proper LCD TV.
