Cheers mate, for some reason i thought it was next week that the demo would be available, is this in the US or UK store? still with fallout 3 turning up today i dont think it's going to get much of a look-in.
I'm struggling to download it at the moment. No doubt it's taking a real hammering, and no surprise there, this is my most eagerly awaited game. Hope it's worth it!
Naa.
@ Barrichello, have you got Far Cry 2 or fallout 3 yet? Are you getting LBP?
So many games coming out now, im going to go for Left4dead, and yes LBP for sure, was originally just getting it for the missus for xmas but after playing the beta its such a blast, can see us all playing it.
I think i will also check Fallout sometime soon, just finding enough time to play everything right now, im still hooked on Wipeout HD
In regard to Mirror's Edge demo, have to say its very smooth and impressive. Getting used to the control system now as well, seems pretty intuitive. Great running around traversing the roof tops, sliding in and disarming opponents. Great fun.
How are other people finding it?
Looks good.
But there was a point in the demo where it said something like "avoiding enemies is not always the best action". I therefore took that to mean that I should try and engage the enemies at that point. I found that if there's more than just one or two, it's impossible. I know it's not supposed to be a combat game - I just thought that it was od for them to put that line there if I wasn't actually supposed to attack them (unless I'm just not very good).
It's very smooth. So long as it doesn't get a bit samey (just running places), then that's fine. The controls are also very non-standard, so could take a bit of getting used to. I don't think I hit X once when actually playing the game. The trick is probably to get used to what the different combinations of moves do and string a few together to pull of what you want to achieve.
Downloaded and really enjoyed it.
Ajbrun, with regards to engaging the two guys in the demo, you have to do it a bit like IRL. Line them up in such a fashion that the two guys are in a line, with you at the opposite end. That way the guy at the other end of the line can't see/engage you, because you're behind his mate. That way you can deal with the first guy (dodge the shots, get nice and close and then go into bullet time and then use the takedown/disarm) and then deal with the other at your leisure. What I tend to do is get said blokes attention, run behind a wall/aircon unit etc and then as they walk around the corner grab em and take em down. Catch em unawares.
Can't wait for the full game defo on the purchase list.
How so? It couldn't get any more simple? One button for jump, one for duck, two sticks and a couple of others for disarms/attacking?
Played the demo (needed to try something else) and I don't think I'll be getting it. Sure its simple controls, but it just didn't grab me.
I too am in a dilemma as to whether I should get this.
The graphics and fluidity look fantastic, but how much running and jumping can you do before you get bored.
Is there anything on the game to keep you coming back?
Maybe worth renting for a day?
I really enjoy it, but then I don't spend silly hours playing games these days. Some of the puzzles are pretty annoying, the story is ok, and it can be stupidly frustrating at times - but it's all worth it when you finally pull off that little bit of magic and get it right. I've not touched another game since having it, but then I'm trying to clock it first go without firing a bullet.
