    Yes, I suppose if you're planning on playing Mass Effect at 2560x1600 or higher then it's certainly worth going for the 1gb card.

    If that was the case, then at that res you would be much better off getting a 4870/4890 1gb, GTX 260/275 or a 4870x2.
