    Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2

Does anyone know anything about the DRM issues with the PC version of Mass Effect? The game itself is only 6.99 on Amazon but lots of people have complained about installation problems because of DRM's.

I'd quite like to play it before Mass Effect 2 is released, which incidentally, looks rather good.

    Re: Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2

(Again we need to either change the description of this forum to PC as well, or this should be moved to the current PC section )

There are no DRM issues with Mass Effect. When you install it you have to activate it online, that's about it. Worked flawlessly for all the computers in our house. You can activate as many times as you like, as there is a revoke tool.

    Thanks Kalniel!

This a tricky one - still not sure which forum to put PC gaming threads in. Especially since Mass Effect is available on PC and Xbox 360 and I'll almost certainly play Mass Effect 2 on Xbox 360 as my yet-to-be-built PC will almost certainly be unable to play it. Hehe

    Re: Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2

Ah hehe, well then it depends what your question is then - if you're asking about the PC DRM then it's probably not an X360 post

What kind of specification PC are you building? If it has any graphics card from the last three years it should be able to play mass effect 2 without even breaking a sweat.

    Re: Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect for £7 is an absolute steal. I really loved the game and I didn't have any problem with DRM. Maybe it's a little easy though. I will certainly be getting ME2

It's nearer 8, but yeah, definitely worth it.

    Re: Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2

I really really enjoyed it, the main storyline was epic, but then I am a sucker for anything with spaceships. Just don't expect an Oblivion/Fallout 3 level of freedom.

And I didn't have any issues with the DRM on PC.

A quality game with a very good main storyline. Side quests can be tedious at times though.

Oh yeah - and don't forget you can import your ME1 character into ME2 too if you need another reason.

I'm building it on a budget, but if what you say is true about graphics cards (I was think about Sapphire ATI 4850 512mb) then I'm in business

4850 will be fine however you can get a GTS 250 1GB card for £102 from scan so you could get that instead, assuming you were going to spend around £100 anyway ?

If you are going to spend a £100 then you might as well go for a 4870 512MB for £97 at Scan (XFX). Its a significantly more powerful then the GTS 250.

If not then you can get the 4850 for £80 which is about the same as the GTS 250.

Why spend more for a worse or at best, equal, card?

I was thinking more in terms of the larger frame buffer compared to the 512 version of the 4850.

In this case it does not make much difference
