ps3 will not show up on samsung monitor

My ps3 will not show up on my samsung monitor. the model is a syncmaster 953bw. it does support hdcp. my ps3 is connected to the monitor via hdmi to dvi converter (hdmi in ps3 to dvi converter into monitor). my ps3 used to be able to show up on my monitor, but now it does not. it flickers in a black screen for a little bit, then a box that says analog and digital switches back and forth on the upper left hand corner. i have already tested the ps3 to make sure it works, it does. i have also tested the hdmi cable, it works. i have just purchased a second hdmi to dvi converter and the setup still does not work.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried the monitor on a pc to see if it works?

Also hold down the ps3 'on' button for 5 seconds when you turn the ps3 on.

yes, i have tried the monitor on a pc and it does work.

yes, i have also tried pressing down the ps3 on button for 5 seconds when i turn on the ps3, still doesn't work.
