Xbox 360 Live Connection question Help Please

Hi there

Was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this....

Have a friend on profile and has been for 4+years.

in the recent 3+months, we cannot connect to each other via chat, or online party for a game of anything! We can send each other voice and text messages but not connect for a game or chat
we have to get a 3rd party to host a party and invite us both in order for us all to play.. which is really annoying

no settings for either one of us changed, ports forwarded, etc his side and mine.. xbox live support checks both our accounts and they are running fine with no restrictions etc.
if anything if i do the ports my settings on the NAT becomes moderate.

this just suddenly changed one day after 4 years and cant seem to find out why? or a way to correct it... does anyone have aby suggestions?

Take your machine round to a friend's house (not the friend you're having problems with) plug it in to their broadband and try to connect with your friend. If the problem goes away, you know it's your router or ISP. If you still get the problem, get your friend to do the same at another friend's house. If the problem goes away you know it was your friend's router or ISP. If you still get the problem both times you know it's nothing to do with your routers or ISPs and it's a problem with Xbox Live/MS. If you narrow it down to a router/ISP issue then write down all your router settings and swap routers with someone. If it turns out to be your ISP, check your ISP's user forums and search for Xbox to see if it's a known issue.

well update,

tried different console, different gamertag, different connection....no luck

xbox support suggested port forwarding....something am familiar with, no luck infact it made my NAT moderate...once i removed it and left it back to original settings went back to open...

xbox are allegedly escalating the case but other than that nothing square 1!!
