Annoying Xbox Error

In the last few days my Xbox has started crashing a bit. At intermittent times the xbox locks up in game and i have to restart it. Sometimes but not always the red lights will come on (3 of em) and i cant use the xbox for ages after it does this. It appears to like being left off for a period of time before it will work again
Has anyone else had this? I have a moth of the extended warrenty from Game left and im thinking of sending it off to get sorted but i dont want them to come back and tell me they can find and fault and then try charging me or something. Does anyone have any advice?

this is the RRoD and if its still under warranty you will need to send your xBox back to Microsoft / Game to be fixed.

Bugger. I thought it was a different error to the RROD as its only doing 3 lights should have checked really. Cheers for the replies. Feel a bit of a dunce now. I just hope they pick up the fault when i send it off

On the plus side, I think the glut of RRoD returns is over: I recently had my second 360 die on me (first was RRoD, this was the DVD drive failing to read discs), sent it off for repair to MS, got notification that it was in Germany the next day, back within about 9 days with a free month's Xbox Live. That was paid for repair (no longer under warranty) but I'm guessing the warranty service will be the same process.

Coolio - im hoping as it seems to be fairly quiet on the RROD front these days it doesnt take an age to get fixed but struggling with the UPS bit of the returns - (see other thread)
