    BBC iPlayer Wii Channel

Just been on the Wii shop and noticed that you can download for free a BBC iPlayer channel, good news for me as I used to watch it now and again before the last browser update messed it up.

Also noticed demo games available now, can't say I seen that on there before.

    Re: BBC iPlayer Wii Channel

I use BBC iPlayer via my PS3, so no use for me, but I will have a nose around the demos.

    Cheers.

I find that the iplayer seems to work better on my wii than it does on any PC I've used it on!

Wii iplayer for the absolute win.

Tbh so good is it, and such a great idea, that people are starting to build iplayer into TFT TV's!

    Re: BBC iPlayer Wii Channel

I was going to say it's a bit weird and pointless since it works fine on the wii's web browser anyway for over a year now... --but I guess this thread just goes to prove that such things are useful to put out, if just to make sure that people don't use their own initiative take notice of things

not if you had updated your Wii. if it was running the latest firmware then iPlayer wouldn't work.

    Re: BBC iPlayer Wii Channel

iPlayer also seems to be better quality using the wii channel rather than the browser.

Yes, the app is 700kbps streams, the older browser based one 500kbps.

    Re: BBC iPlayer Wii Channel

It's nice to be able to catch up via iPlayer from the Wii to the T.V rather than on the laptop. A worthy edition to the Wii channels

    Re: BBC iPlayer Wii Channel

I downloaded the browser some time ago so my folks could watch the iPlayer on TV, but it was patchy at best. The new dedicated channel is great though! You can't tell a huge difference from live broadcasts on an old SD TV.

Yes, and unlike the PS3 the parents can actually use the wii control & iplayer.
