    Thinking of getting a 360!

At last I am thinking about getting a 360 elite console as some of the deals just now are quite amazing.
Do the newer sku's still suffer the same problems with the RROD as the earlier models?
I have always had a Playstation, and I do have a PS3 80GB (my 60GB got the YLOD) but I would like to try a 360 as I have never ever had a shot of one before and there can not be many gamers who can say that I don't think.

what did you do with your ps3 which got the yrod? you know there is a fix for that, on the 360 note, they seem to have a good base for games...the last remnant is one of them, community is good aswell! but as always you still get the odd totaly n""b lol however it might take you a week or two to get use to the controller! i think the newer models are made better but ive not taken one apart so i couldnt tell you that...but if it makes you feel any better my sister has a 360 elite and shes had no problems with it at all!

Re: Thinking of getting a 360!

I actually fixed the YLOD problem myself with help from a youtube guide from a guy called Gilsky1.
While fixing it though I managed to pull the fan connection off of the motherboard. So now it turns on for about 7 or 8 mins before I get a "console is overheating" message on the screen. Also I think the Blu ray drive has gone on me now as well but it may be I am not putting the ribbon back in properly.

I wont have a problem with the controllers as I use them for my PC (wired ones)
An elite with 2 controllers and 4 games for 195 quid is a pretty good deal

ah i see, in my personal opinion the ps3 is much better then a 360 anyway but yes if your getting one that price is awesome! what games are on offer with it?

btw you said you pulled the fan connector of the board in the ps3, are you not able to put it back?

Re: Thinking of getting a 360!

Xbox 360 is my favourite console at the min and the deal your looking at is top for the price (the one with Pure & Batman ?) Your going to be heading into a good early year of gaming as well on Xbox 360 with a few exclusives not to mention games you may of missed , Halo, Gow etc.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

No I can't put the fan connection back in as it is the bit you plug it into on the motherboard that has come off. I could maybe try to solder it on but I dont know.
The games you get with the deal are Pure, Batman lego and a choice of 2 others ranging from 25 to 35 quid. Dragons Origin, The Sabatour, Forza 3. NFS Shift, Avatar and some others.

It is a fantastic deal but I am in no real hurry to get one so I might hold out until after Christmas and see if the prices go down even more. I doubt it will go lower than that but you never know, especially if it has not been too good a festive season at the tills for the big stores.
