About LinkBacksI went through Microsoft and followed their instructions. Boxed it up with the UPS label and return address stuck on the outside. When I dropped it off at Mail Box Etc. they charged me a £10 'administration fee'? Is that the norm?

Aye, last one I had repaired was picked up from my house by UPS.
UPS could've picked it up but Mail Box Etc. is very close by so I dropped it off. Please can someone who dropped their XBOX off at Mail Box Etc. reply and let me know if they were charged £10. Thanks.

I wish I'd used my head and considered that beforehand. Oh well, £10 for a shiny new XBOX isn't such a big pill to swallow.

if it was a RROD they just repair your console and send it back I think.
I had to send my RROD'd Xbox back two weeks ago (I got UPS to pick up) and was sent a new one, they didn't bother repairing mine... Which I was glad about since my dvd drive was also acting up...Thing is it won't be a new xbox
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...
I've sent two 360's back for repair so far. One they repaired, changing the MB and the DVD drive, the other they replaced with a refurbished one.

I think my xbox is so old that it's even out of the 3 year warranty. It red ringed on me but when I fill out the online repair it wants me to input credit card information so they can charge me for repairing it.

You can always try the clamp fix yourself. I got a kit of ebay for less than a fiver and fixed one of my older 360's that had the E74 error. Still working about 7 months later. Not that hard to do either really, there are plenty of guides on the net.

Hmm no, its not. He was more than likely charged as he went via Mail Box, you have to pay for there server (?).
If UPS collect, there is NO fee to the sender of the item, I have had to do this twice and never one been charged to return a console.
It didn't fall off, it merely became insufficient at it's purpose and got a bit droopy...
In that case, my recommendation would be to go easy on the bubble-wrap, use City-Link, and be rude to the driver.
