Re: Recommend me a driving game

Not sure if it is out on Ps3, but if you can get Split Second would be a great game if you could get some mates playing it, drive around in cars blowing sh*t up as you go.

If you don't know, its a racing game, but you can blow buildings and other stuff up to try and take out your opponents.

    Burnout

    EDIT: Great timing

Burnout is more about racing and takedowns - i.e. using the car itself as a weapon, nudging opponents into oncoming traffic. Stuff like Split Second tends to focus on power ups/weapons that can be used Mario Kart style. Depends what you prefer. Burnout will be very cheap now though, I suspect.

Might be worth checking out the reviews of Blur too - if you like Mario Kart it should be a good bet.

yeah burnout was fun on my ps2, never played paradise. But anyway I got told to avoid the need for speed series like the plague but what do you think about Midnight club: LA

Re: Recommend me a driving game

It got worse with time in my opinion... Burnout 2 was great fun, Burnout 3 was an improvement with the introduction of takedowns, Burnout 4 wasn't much different in the end... I forget if there was another one... and then Paradise was easily the worst of the lot.

It's still a lot of fun though, especially in multiplayer... it was the singleplayer that really sucked in Paradise.

Re: Recommend me a driving game

Sounds like it probably is, according to wiki it should include the following:

The first update was announced as the "Burnout Party Pack"... It focuses on single-console multiplayer gameplay, which offers a Freeburn Challenge-like setting but for players on the same console, who pass a single controller between players to complete challenges.

The update introduces three new Freeburn multiplayer modes: Online Stunt Run, Marked Man and Road Rage. Online Stunt Run involves up to 8 players who simultaneously compete for the highest stunt score within 2 minutes. Road Rage features two teams; one must race to a checkpoint while the others tries to stop them through takedowns. Marked Man is like a game of tag, with one player as the Marked Man who cannot see the other players and has no boost.

motorbikes and night-day cycles would appear in the Bikes Pack (originally codenamed the "Davis" update), along with tailored locations, challenges and game modes.[14] Criterion Games announced on August 5, 2008 that the update would also feature a new dynamic weather system, two starter bikes in the player's junkyard, 70 new bike-only challenges, and special "Midnight Rides" challenges that appear only at night.

The Ultimate Box just comes with the free DLC on disc, or so I thought.
Edit: Burnout Paradise - The Ultimate Box" that launched around the same time which contains the original game, plus the Cagney, Bikes, Party pack and Update pack all in the same package which contained "a mountain of new refinements".

it turns out someone at work is willing to sell me their copy of burnout ultimate box. Will I still be able to get all the extras or is it a code that you redeem, which you can only use once???

If your PC is up to it, you can download Burnout Paradise as a demo to see if you like it - it's the full game but limited to between 30 mins and an hour of play I think.
